The Social Paradox.
Hi, we’re An and Roshan.
Like you, we live on our phones. Not because we want to, but because that’s where our world is. Our friends, our plans, our memories—they live inside these apps.
Last year, we both hit a breaking point. We found ourselves losing hours every night to the "Reels trance"—scrolling endlessly through content we didn't care about, posted by people we didn't know.
So, we did what everyone suggests: we deleted Instagram.
It was peaceful for about three days. Then, the isolation hit. We missed the group chat updates. We missed the birthday invites. We missed the DMs from friends living overseas. We realized that deleting the app meant deleting our connection to the people we love.
"We didn't have an addiction problem. We had a filtering problem."
We realized we were trapped in a paradox: To stay connected, we had to agree to be distracted. To talk to our friends, we had to fight an algorithm designed to steal our attention.
We built Breakfree to solve this specific problem for ourselves. It creates a tunnel through the noise. It uses Apple's Screen Time API to block the feed, the explore page, and the reels, while tunneling your messages through a clean, distraction-free interface.
It allows us to be present with our friends, without being absent from our own lives.
We hope it helps you find that balance too.
